Granting the legendary Storm keyword to every instant and sorcery spell you cast turns even basic cantrips and burn spells into game-ending tidal waves. On Moxfield’s high-power and Spellslinger charts, Prismari, the Inspiration stands out as the ultimate endgame Elder Dragon in the Izzet () color pair.
As a massive 7/7 Elder Dragon costing seven mana (), Prismari features Flying and Ward—Pay 5 life, protecting him from simple single-target removal. His defining ability turns your entire library into a Storm engine: whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, you copy it for each spell cast before it this turn. By combining fast mana acceleration, rituals, and low-cost cantrips, Prismari converts a storm count of just 4 or 5 into lethal burn damage and infinite card draw.
Here is the strategic operational blueprint of Moxfield’s premier Prismari list, detailing how to ramp into this Elder Dragon and execute devastating Storm turns.
1. Core Mechanics & Strategic Phases
Succeeding with Prismari requires fast mana acceleration, low-cost instant/sorcery cantrips, spell-duplication payoffs, and protective interaction in Izzet colors.
-
Early Game (Turns 1–3): Accelerate mana aggressively using dorks, rocks like Arcane Signet, Fellwar Stone, and ritual setups like Rite of Flame.
-
Mid Game (Turns 4–5): Prepare your hand with cantrips like Ponder, Preordain, and discount engines like Storm-Kiln Artist or Baral, Chief of Compliance.
-
Late Game (Turns 6+): Deploy Prismari (), chain multiple free rituals and low-cost spells, and cast a lethal Grapeshot, Lightning Bolt, or Crackle with Power with a massive Storm count.
2. Moxfield Highlights: Elder Dragon Storm Engines
The highest-rated community lists on Moxfield optimize Prismari by fueling high mana production early, enabling seamless spell-chaining, and amplifying copied spell effects.
Storm-Kiln Artist / Birgi, God of Storytelling
Mana generation engines. Storm-Kiln Artist creates a Treasure token not only when you cast an instant or sorcery, but also for every Storm copy created by Prismari, generating infinite mana during a single Storm chain.
Jeska’s Will / Mana Geyser
High-volume rituals. Casting Jeska’s Will with Prismari on the field duplicates the exile-play ability and mana generation multiple times, flooding your stack with resources.
Veyran, Voice of Duality / Harmonic Prodigy
Trigger multipliers. Veyran doubles the magecraft and spell triggers across your board while Prismari provides built-in Storm scaling.
Fierce Guardianship / Deflecting Swat
Free Izzet commander protection. Shielding Prismari once he hits the battlefield ensures opponents cannot interrupt your storm setup without paying steep ward costs.
