Paired with X-spell multipliers like Unbound Flourishing, massive Tyranid threats, and instant untap tools, Lucea Kane floods the battlefield with duplicated leviathans and copied finisher spells.
Here is the strategic operational blueprint of Moxfield’s premier Magus Lucea Kane list, detailing how to double mana output, clone massive X-spells, and crush the pod.
1. Core Mechanics & Strategic Phases
Succeeding with Magus Lucea Kane requires fast 3-color ramp, early commander protection, untap utilities, and a high density of lethal X-cost spells.
-
Early Game (Turns 1–3): Deploy early mana accelerators like Sol Ring, Three Visits, and Birds of Paradise. Cast Lucea Kane on turn 3.
-
Mid Game (Turns 4–5): Tap Lucea Kane for two coloreless mana to cast 5-6 mana X-spells like Aberrant or Sporocyst, getting two massive creatures and double ETB triggers for the price of one.
-
Late Game (Turns 5+): Leverage untap effects like Kiora’s Follower or Minamo, School at Water’s Edge to tap Lucea Kane multiple times, creating three or four copies of game-ending spells like Finale of Devastation.
2. Moxfield Highlights: X-Spell Engines & Tyranid Multipliers
The highest-rated community lists on Moxfield optimize Magus Lucea Kane by fusing X-spell copy multipliers with untap mechanics and high-impact Temur interaction.
Unbound Flourishing
The ultimate X-spell doubler. Stacking Unbound Flourishing with Lucea Kane’s copy ability turns a single X-spell into three massive copies with quadrupled X values.
Kiora’s Follower / Minamo, School at Water’s Edge
Commander untap engines. Tapping Lucea Kane, untapping her with Kiora’s Follower, and tapping her again stacks her copy trigger twice, granting two extra copies for your next X-spell.
Aberrant / Exocrine
Tyranid X-creature heavyweights. Aberrant destroys opposing artifacts and enchantments while Exocrine wipes opposing boards and draws cards, both doubled by Lucea Kane.
