Scalable mana investment, explosive turn-one deployment, and seamless card draw engine potential make Bruce Banner from Marvel Super Heroes (MSH) an exceptional Temur commander in Magic: The Gathering.
As a 1/1 Human Scientist Hero costing a single blue mana (), Bruce Banner converts excess mana into direct hand refill with his , card-drawing ability. Backed by a full Temur color identity through his transformation cost, Bruce Banner seamlessly bridges big-mana ramp engines with high-power aggressive payoffs before unleashing his transformed smash state.
Here is the strategic operational blueprint of Moxfield’s premier Bruce Banner list, detailing how to generate infinite/big mana, draw into key win conditions, and transform for absolute board dominance.
1. Core Mechanics & Strategic Phases
Winning with Bruce Banner requires fast land ramp, infinite mana engines, Temur countermagic/haste support, and high-impact payoffs.
-
Early Game (Turns 1–2): Drop Bruce Banner on Turn 1. Follow up with dorks and land fetchers like Birds of Paradise, Three Visits, and Nature’s Lore to expand your mana pool.
-
Mid Game (Turns 3–4): Dump extra mana into Bruce’s ability at sorcery speed to draw fresh resources, keeping your hand loaded with answers and ramp pieces.
-
Late Game (Turns 5+): Assemble big mana engines like Nyxbloom Ancient or infinite mana combos via Dockside Extortionist and Temur Sabertooth. Draw your whole library with Bruce Banner, transform him, and wipe the pod in a single combat step.
