Generating instant token bodies upon entering the battlefield paired with a modal activated sacrifice ability makes for a premier artifact control and combo centerpiece. On Moxfield’s high-power and competitive charts, few four-color () legends possess as much historical pedigree and raw versatility as Breya, Etherium Shaper.
As a 4/4 Human Artifact legend costing four mana (), Breya creates two 1/1 Thopter artifact creature tokens with Flying when she enters the battlefield. Her activated ability lets you pay two generic mana () and sacrifice two artifacts to choose one of three modes: deal 3 damage to target player or planeswalker, give target creature -4/-4 until end of turn, or gain 5 life. When combined with infinite mana and recursion engines like Nim Deathmantle and Ashnod’s Altar, Breya continuously sacrifices herself and her tokens to deal lethal damage across the entire table.
Here is the strategic operational blueprint of Moxfield’s premier Breya list, detailing how to turn artifact sacrifice loops and multi-color acceleration into absolute table victory.
1. Core Mechanics & Strategic Phases
Succeeding with Breya requires fast artifact ramp, heavy tutor density for combo pieces, interaction spells, and instant-speed win conditions.
-
Early Game (Turns 1–2): Fix your four-color mana base and ramp quickly using low-cost rocks like Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, and Mox Opal.
-
Mid Game (Turns 3–4): Deploy Breya to create token blockers and hold up modal removal, or sculpt your hand using tutors like Demonic Tutor and Enlightened Tutor.
-
Late Game (Turns 5+): Assemble infinite loop engines using Nim Deathmantle + Ashnod’s Altar or Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal, and activate Breya infinitely to burn down all opponents.
2. Moxfield Highlights: The Etherium Engine
The highest-rated community lists on Moxfield optimize Breya by pairing her token generation and activated abilities with infinite mana loops, tutors, and artifact recursion.
Nim Deathmantle + Ashnod’s Altar
The classic signature Breya combo. Sacrificing Breya and one Thopter token to Ashnod’s Altar generates four colorless mana (). Paying four mana to Nim Deathmantle’s trigger returns Breya to the battlefield, creating two new Thopters. Repeating this loop generates infinite colorless mana and infinite Thopter tokens, allowing you to use Breya’s direct damage ability to instantly kill every opponent.
Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal
The premier non-green infinite mana engine. Imprinting Dramatic Reversal onto Isochron Scepter with mana rocks producing two or more mana generates infinite mana, enabling infinite Breya casts or direct damage activations.
Bolas’s Citadel / Sensei’s Divining Top
High-velocity deck casting. Casting spells directly from the top of your library while using Top and Citadel creates massive storm counts and card selection, easily digging for missing combo pieces or protection.
Thassa’s Oracle + Demonic Consultation / Tainted Pact
The secondary compact win line. Bypassing artifact hate entirely, four-color access allows smooth integration of the fastest alternate win condition in Commander.
