In high-power Commander, card advantage and tempo dictation are the two ultimate pillars of success. On Moxfield’s public deckbuilding charts, few legends command as much explosive potential from the top of the library as Elsha of the Infinite.
Operating with the Jeskai (Blue-Red-White) color identity, Elsha is the definitive „Future Sight“ engine in the command zone. Her static abilities allow you to look at the top card of your library at any time, and cast noncreature spells from the top of your library as though they had flash. Combined with her built-in Prowess keyword, Elsha converts every cheap artifact, instant, and sorcery into both raw card advantage and a lethal physical threat on the board. By optimizing her with low-cost utility rocks and cost-reduction engines, high-tier lists can easily execute instant-speed loops that draw the entire library in a single turn phase.
Here is the strategic operational blueprint of Moxfield’s premier Elsha list, detailing how to turn the top of your deck into an endless tactical sequence.
1. Core Mechanics & Strategic Phases
Succeeding with Elsha requires maintaining a low creature count to prevent your top-deck casting sequences from stalling, while establishing a secure mana base.
-
Early Game (Turns 1–2): Deploy fast mana artifacts and setup passive card-draw engines like Mystic Remora or Esper Sentinel. Your focus is ramping quickly into your 5-mana commander.
-
Mid Game (Turns 3–4): Cast Elsha of the Infinite. The moment she resolves, evaluate the top of your library. Use instant-speed cantrips to clear away lands or creature cards that block your flow, allowing you to cast continuous chains of noncreature spells.
-
Late Game (Turns 4+): Assemble your primary artifact loop. By combining Elsha with a zero-cost top-deck manipulation tool and a resource reducer, you can draw your remaining library and close out the match on the spot.
2. Moxfield Highlights: The Infinite Top-Deck Catalysts
The highest-rated community lists on Moxfield optimize Elsha by running highly compact artifact combinations and elite countermagic to protect her during the combo turn.
Sensei’s Divining Top
The ultimate combo partner for Elsha. When paired with a cost reducer like Helm of Awakening or Etherium Sculptor, the Top costs zero mana to cast. You tap the Top to draw a card and put the Top on the top of your library, then immediately recast the Top from the top of your library for zero mana using Elsha’s ability. Repeating this loop allows you to draw your entire deck at instant speed.
Underworld Breach / Brain Freeze
The premier backup win condition. If your artifact loops are disrupted, Underworld Breach allows you to escape low-cost cards from your graveyard, using Brain Freeze to repeatedly mill your own deck and fuel an unstoppable storm sequence.
Grand Abolisher
Essential protection before launching your combo. Because Jeskai storm lines are highly susceptible to targeted interaction, deploying Grand Abolisher guarantees that your opponents cannot cast spells or activate abilities during your turn, allowing you to execute your loops with total safety.
Birgi, God of Storytelling
An outstanding economic engine. Birgi adds a single Red mana to your pool whenever you cast a spell. When casting cards continuously from the top of your library using Elsha, Birgi ensures you never run out of mana to keep the storm chain alive.
